Escape to a Karoo village where time seems to have stood stil....... The Klaarstroom Hotel is situated in the heart of the Karoo, and proudly lies where the Great Karoo and Klein Karoo meet, on the famous Route 62.

The village of Klaarstroom is positioned at the Great Karoo entrance to Meiringspoort, a spectacular gorge through the Swartberg Mountain range. The old inner village is conveniently and quietly situated behind sheltering koppies, just 500m off the N12.  Klaarstroom is steeped in history and remains one of the few remaining authentic Karoo villages

Our vintage and quaint Klaarstroom Hotel originally opened its doors in 1874 and still retains many original Victorian features, while offering guests cheerfully designed suites, an inviting pool area, and a welcoming public bar.

The Fat Fig Restaurant @ Klaarstroom Hotel

Wake up to an inclusive traditional, full-house breakfast at our in-house Klaarstroom restaurant. Help yourself to yoghurt and cereal, your amiable wait staff will take an order for a hot cooked breakfast that will get your day started in the best way! 

Lunches and dinners are reminiscent of homestyle cooking, with delightful moederskos, homemade pies and freshly baked pizzas. Choose to eat in the dining room, in the large bar / dining area, or at one of the garden tables. In between meals, enjoy a cold beer or gin & tonic while enjoying a dip in the outdoor pool, taking in the marvellous scenery of the karoo hillside and Klaarstroom mountains.

Our cosy little pub showcases a stunning solid yellowwood bar, an original wagon wheel and a display case full of Victorian relics. It provides a relaxing environment to simply unwind after your day of exploring. In winter, the lounge offers an inviting fireplace to keep you toasty on the cooler nights.
